Colour, from a small industry

Morocco's makeup houses are younger and far fewer than its skincare ones, and this is the shortest category on ARIN for that reason. We would rather it stayed short than filled it with imported product wearing a Moroccan label.

Two traditions run underneath it. Aker fassi — the dried poppy and pomegranate pigment sold in painted clay dishes in Fès — is still made much as it always was; and the newer houses are formulating for skin tones the international ranges have historically served last. Both deserve more shelf space than they get.
